A visit with the Zamora's in Chimaltenango

Last Monday, August 4, we were invited to go with the Padilla's to visit the Zamora's in their home town of Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
It was a very nice trip and we enjoyed our visit and lunch with everyone. We met two of the Zamora's grandchildren and their daughter and her husband while there. The Zamora's were temple missionaries but were released in December. They now come on the Saturday mid-day shift. Brother Zamora is still one of the sealers in the temple.
On the way back to Guatemala City the Padilla's took us by another lake between Chimaltenango and Antigua. This lake is the other lake that some people call the waters of Mormon because it is hidden in the tall trees and the mountains around it. If is is the waters of Mormon, then I think it was much cleaner then. The pictures are not in the order of the events.

Two of the Zamora's grandchildren playing their guitars for us. They just returned home from school.

Sister Zamora and her daughter. This is their family who has been living in their home, now it is their home.

Sister Zamora made a very nice lunch consisting of a chicken and vegetable stew, salad and a corn drink and a fruit drink.

A bridge over the lake Posento, that could have maybe been the waters of Mormon.

Another view of  Lake Posento.

There are plenty of ducks on the lake

This is the hallway looking at the front door of their home. There are bedrooms on one side and an office. On the other side is the front room, bathroom and kitchen.

Looking out the kitchen window at a bird cage. This is an outdoor patio where the wash is hung and other work. There is also a laundry room, some bedrooms and storage rooms off this patio.

Another view of the office. Brother Zamora, as I mentioned is one of the sealers at the temple. He has also served as a Bishop and has been in a Stake Presidency. There is one big Stake in Chimaltenango with another Stake that includes Antigua.

Starting out on our trip to Chimaltenango to visit the Zamora's

This truck with military men in passed us. They had their guns in hand like they were ready for war. I didn't want to take their picture when they could see me taking their picture.

One of the volcanos that is visible on the way there.

An interesting building in the city of Chimaltenango

Sister Padilla and I went down the street to the street market while we waited for Brother Zamora to show us the way to his house.  We saw a Church house. It was large enough to be a stake center. On the way we saw several full time proselyting missionaries. They may have been on their way to the chapel for a zone meeting or something. They were in a hurry and did not stop to talk to us. We only said Hi!

This lady drove by us on this moto. I got this picture as she was getting off.

At the market there were baskets of live chickens for sell.

Some more live chickens in one basket and some baby chickens in the other basket. You can see some apples in an orange container.

People bring their children to work with them. I don't know how they are able to keep track of them and their items to be sold, but they seem to manage it.

This little girl doesn't look too happy to have to sit on her mother's lap all day.

These turkeys were having a fight with each other. Someone is trying to get them to stop before one kills the other one. Finally the ladies moved them far enough apart that they could not reach each other.

Here we are at an outdoor market and here is a lady on her cell phone.

grass is being sold? I don't know.

Their dog had puppies about two to three weeks old. They sure could make a lot of noise. Brother Zamora is counting them. There were seven in all. The mother was very attentive.

Families came to go on the boats in the lake, to swim in the pool along side the lake and to have picnics.
