Our visit to Lago de Atitlan

We drove through on Friday when they have their outdoor market going on.  We saw people selling all kinds of goods. This is a lady holding live chickens that she is trying to sell.

This is one of the volcanoes by the town Panajachel

This waterfall is just off the road.

We saw monkeys like this one in the trees. Monkeys here are called Mono's

There were many swinging bridges to cross on our nature walk through the forest. We also saw some coots and many beautiful plants and flowers.

Spencer liked to jump on the bridge so it would make the bridge bounce. I think he liked to hear me squeal.

As we were walking through town we saw this LDS chapel tucked back in behind a fence. It even has a basket ball standard and cement pad to play ball!

There were many people selling their gadgets. They were very persistent. WowWe took the boat and stopped at this restaurant to eat. The stairs to climb up was a long climb, but it was beautiful. This is the lake that many of the people here believe was the Waters of Morman in the Book of Morman times.

Spencer ordered lemonade. It came in such a big glass that he could not even believe it.

The view from out in the middle of the lake.

We arrived at San Juan where we went to see the method of making their clothing. There are about 28 ladies in this group. They take the cotton or silk and spin it into thread, then they dye the threads with roots and seeds and other plants as shown on the poster. Then they make the fabric into their clothing. This is an amazing art.

thread being dyed into the desired color.
